001 — Who this applies to

This policy applies to Noble Kennels (ABN 50 012 600 884), a small family dog breeding operation at Fassifern in New South Wales. It covers personal information we collect through this website, by telephone, by email, and in the course of breeding, selling and supporting dogs.

We have chosen to handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), whether or not we are strictly required to. It is a reasonable standard and we would rather meet it.

002 — What we collect

We collect only what we need to answer you and to place a dog well.

• Contact details — your name, phone number, email address and general location.
• Enquiry information — what you tell us about your household, your experience with dogs, your living arrangements and what you are looking for. You choose how much of this to share.
• Purchase records — where you buy a dog from us, the sale details and the dog’s microchip and registration details, which we are required to keep.
• Ongoing correspondence — notes of conversations over the life of the dog, so that whoever picks up the phone knows your history.

003 — Third parties

Waiting list applications are lodged through RightPaw, which is an independent business. Information you give RightPaw is handled under their privacy policy, not ours, and you should read it. We receive from them the application information you have chosen to submit.

Our website is hosted on servers in Australia. Email is handled through our hosting provider. We do not transfer personal information overseas for our own purposes. [CHECK — confirm this is accurate for your mail provider.]

004 — Who we tell

We disclose personal information only where we have to, or where you ask us to:

• Dogs NSW and Dogs Australia — registration and transfer of ownership of a registered dog.
• The NSW Pet Registry — microchip and ownership details, as required by the Companion Animals Act 1998 (NSW).
• Veterinarians — where relevant to the health of a dog we have bred.
• Where required by law — a court order, a regulator, or an authorised officer.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it for marketing. Not to breeders, not to pet retailers, not to anybody.

005 — How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not proceed are kept while there is a reasonable prospect of a future litter suiting you, and then deleted. Purchase and breeding records are kept for the life of the dog and afterwards, because pedigree and health records have long-term value to the breed and because we may be required to produce them.

006 — Security

We take reasonable steps to protect what we hold. Practically, that means a small number of records, held on password-protected devices, accessible only to us. We are a household, not a data operation — the best protection we offer is that we collect very little in the first place.

007 — Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Ring 0426 815 246 or email nigel@noblekennels.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time and we will not charge you for it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to fix it. If you are still unhappy, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

008 — Children

We do not knowingly collect information about children. Enquiries should come from an adult in the household.

009 — Changes

If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be brought to the attention of anyone on our waiting list.
